Little over a year ago

A little over a year ago I met him. He was a friend of a brother of a friend of my brother (say that two times fast and you win a prize). I met him late in the afternoon on a late August day. Instantly he impressed me. Impressed? Why? maybe it was his interesting hair cut (too much summer fun left him with a inverted mow hawk). Maybe it was because he was at school, like me, a week before class begun. Maybe it was because off his school-bag hung interesting articles of technology. Maybe it was because he skin was white and pasty like I always thought a Eastern European looks, with pale skin and black hair and eyes, although he is not a Caucasian. Maybe it was the serious look on his face, but the readiness to have a good time. Maybe it was the air of a seeker that he had, interested in learning about life and meaning and people, although he seemed to be single minded about doing what he wanted to do. Maybe it was because he lived less then a block away from my house for two semesters in my quite neighbourhood without me knowing. Or maybe it was his vast knowledge of computers that gave me prospective, to my lack of knowledge (I thought I was doing ok as a computer person). I am not really sure what it is about him that impressed me, but I was impressed. And it has been a great year.... I hope for many more like it.
